A Huge Thanks |
The faculty and staff send a huge thank-you to all our families and students for an awesome Teacher Appreciation week. Every day was a new suprise. Thank-you again for blessing us with your prayers, gifts and support not just this week but this entire school year.

Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast |

So many of you have helped make this another successful year at LSA-Lower! You have helped with all kinds of events - Fall Festival, Miles for Missions, International Day, providing refreshments for different programs, room parties, PTL Board, opening car doors, meals for families, and so much more... Please plan on attending a thank you breakfast on Wednesday, May 21, beginning at 8:30am in the Lower Library. RSVP to Leisa in the office by May 16 so we can have accurate numbers to serve you. |

LSA Barnes & Noble Book Fair |
|
On Saturday, May 17, LSA will be hosting a book fair at the Baybrook Barnes & Noble. Throughout the day, there will be special events and performances featuring LSA staff and students from all three levels. Prior to this event, you did receive a voucher that can be used at the store on this special day. LSA will receive a percentage of all sales where vouchers are presented. Please help to publicize this event with your friends and family, this is a great opportunity for LSA to stock our library shelves!

Lower School Yearbooks |
| This year's lower school yearbook has arrived. Students in Grades 1-5 will bring one home on Wed. May 21, with an an attached note. If you choose not to purchase the book, it will be expected to be returned in excellent condition the next morning. If you choose to purchase the book, the price and due date will be on the flyer. PK3, PK4 & Kindergarten parents can view a book in the school office and decide to purchase or not at that time.
There will be a Yearbook signing time Wednesday, May 28 when students will be able to visit others and sign greetings. This time is guided by the teachers in an appropriate manner.

WINGS Applications for 2008-2009 |
| Packets are available in the Lower School Office. If you wish for your student(s) to apply for the WINGS (Where Imagination and Natural Gifts Soar) program for the 2008-2009 school year. This application process is open to all current students entering Grades 1 through 5 this Fall. All paper work for this process is due June 13, 2008.
Students who made application last year got an envelope with information how to be re-evaluated for the new school year. There is a reapplication sheet to return so we know your desires for the 08-09 school year.

Lower Family Picnic & Track / Field Fun |
You are invited to join in the fun on May 30th. Beginning at 8:30 a.m. PK3-5 students will be participation in track and field fun events. At 10:00 a.m. "Joe the Hot Dog Man" will be set up to serve us his wonderful hot dogs for lunch.
Students need to wear their LSA Spirit T-shirt and sneakers, with appropriate shorts or pants. Please send a hat and sunscreen as well. If it rains we have alternative events planned for indoors.
The Family Picnic Day with Track and Field events needs to borrow pop-up coverings for May 29. This will allow each grade level to have a shaded area during the morning events and lunch time. If you can bring a pop up cover, call the school office, so we know how many we'll have. |

May Chapel & Service Project |
|
Our last two chapels for the school year are fast approaching. PK3 through Grade 5 will have chapel together May 23 and 30. On May 23, chapel will be in the cafeteria at the normal 8:15am time slot. On May 30, Lower School will have an Awards presentation at 10:00 am in the gym. The Middle & High School will join us at 11:00 for an all school closing chapel led by Pastor Stocker. Families of the students are welcome to join us.
A mission team is going to the House of Hope and St Anna's Day School in Kenya this summer. Students were given a list of medicines and sports items the team will take with them. There is a bin by our center pole if you are able to donate to this cause. This is the Starfish Kenya mission, we have encouraged and supported last year and this year. |

Parker Uniform Move and Sale |
| Parker Uniforms will be closed May 17th to June 2nd as they move to their new location. They will open June 3rd at 209 South Main Street, League City (281-338-9563). You can shop on-line at www.parkersu.com.
Shop June 14 through July 15 and receive 10% off all your purchases. Store hours are Tuesdays 10-5,

Items Needed |
There is a need for 2 lb. empty metal coffee cans by the 5th grade. If you have extras please drop them off in the school office. We would appreciate any one saving more for us over the summer.

Camp Invention At LSA |
| Lower School will be hosting Camp Invention again this summer. The program is from June 16-20 (9:00am-3:30pm) and is called "Imagine" which is a different theme from last year. This program fosters creativity, team work and science literacy through hands on fun.
Camp Invention is open to all students currently in Grades 1-5 and is not limited to LSA students. Information, including registration, is accessible through the Camp Invention web site at: www.campinvention.org Students have also received a paper copy of information to bring home.

LSA Volleyball Camp |
|
6th Annual LSA Volleyball Camp is being offered from June 9th - June 12th. This is for all girls that are will be in 5th - 8th grade next school year that are interested in playing volleyball. There are two sessions, morning (8:00 - 11:00 am) for 5th and 6th grade, and an afternoon session (1:00 - 4:00 pm) for 7th and 8th grade. Cost is $85 and you must register by May 23rd. Space is limited and on a first come - first serve basis. Please feel free to bring your friends, it is not just for LSA students. You can download a registration form from the LSA website (www.lutheransouth.org) or can pick up a hard copy from either the lower or middle school office. Looking for a Sitter for the Summer |
As school is coming to a close now is the time to look for someone to watch your children during the summer months. Emilie Schultz a graduating senior at LSA will take care of that job for you. She has 6 years of experience and is majoring in early childhood education in college. She is well qualified and would love to take care of your kids. She is available all summer. If you are interested please call 281-922-5213 for more information.

Library Dates |
| All library books are now due. Overdue book lists will be prepared and sent out the week of May 19, along with the cost of replacing the book. So-start looking under the bed, under the sofa, in the car, and any other places you can think of where a book might be hiding. |

Final Report Cards & Test Results |
|
The results of the standardized tests (IOWA and CogAT) are expected back in time to be included in the final report card. Report cards will be mailed from the Lower office the week of June 6th provided all accounts are in order. We cannot release or allow viewing of report cards and test results for students who owe reimbursements for library books, yearbooks, damaged or lost textbooks and/or school charges such as tuition, food service, and Before/After Care. |

K.I.D.S. Savings Program |
The last day Mrs. Norris will be collecting money and distributing savings stamps is Tuesday, May 20.
|

Part-Time Job Opportunities |
| The Lutheran South Before / After Care program is in need of workers for the hour before school and the after school shift for the next school year.
A part time director is also needed to assist in running the aftercare program for the 2007-2008 school year. This position requires different criteria then the worker. Applicants interested in either of these positions must be college students and older. Training is provided for these positions.
There is also a teacher aide position, and a part-time P. E. position available for the next school year.

Dress Code / Gently Used Clothing |
If you have any "gently used" LSA dress code clothing that no longer fits your child, please consider donating it to the PTL for sale on Book Day. Clothing may be dropped off at the Lower office anytime before August 1st.

| Our shelf in the hallway continues to be overflowing with sweaters, sweatshirts and lunch boxes. Please check the area for an item that could belong to your student. Items will be donated to charity if not claimed by May 30. |
