History
It was 1949 when Houston gained its first television station KLEE; its first freeway; and a nationally known hotel, the Shamrock.  That same year, a new community education resource came into being in Houston as Lutheran High School opened its doors.  Continued growth brought a major change in January 1998 when Lutheran High School become Lutheran South Academy offering education for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Association Structure
The Lutheran Education Association of Houston (LEAH), comprising 18 area Lutheran Churches-Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS), owns and operates Lutheran South Academy. The Board of Directors, elected by delegates, consists of Association pastors, LSA parents, and the LEAH Executive Director who oversee budget and major policies.

Current Facility Structure
Lutheran South Academy, unique as a PreK-12 school, is under the supervision of a Headmaster and three Principals dedicated to each level of education. The campus has been designed to accommodate our current needs and allow for future growth. Three separate buildings house the community of LSA.

The community building designed for use by all three levels contains a full-service cafeteria, music wing, gymnasium, fitness center and locker rooms.  Completion of future building phases will enlarge this building to house an additional gymnasium, expanded cafeteria.

The Lower School (grades PreK-5) is housed in a self-contained building geared towards the needs and size of our younger students.  Students have safe and easy access to the community building for lunch, chapel services, music and physical education classes.

Operating on two separate bell schedules throughout the day, the Middle School (grades 6-8) and High School (grades 9-12) currently share the same building.  Future building plans for a fourth structure will allow Middle School and High School independent buildings for instructional use.
